
Participants will engage in completion of structured preparatory activities, including a pre-course needs assessment and self reflection, structured reading of the Airway Mastery Core manual, and preparatory drills.
Participants will then attend the in-person session comprising six (6) hours of simulation teaching and one (1) hour of didactics during the lunch hour.
Following the in-person session, each participant will engage with a series of reinforcement activities including a post course assessment and self reflection and spaced retrieval exercises covering core content of the simulation sessions.
The in-person session will be held June 12, 2026 at the Brockville General Hospital Simulation Lab between 8am and 4pm. Lunch (not provided) is scheduled from 12-1pm.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe and apply a structured approach to the initial assessment of patients requiring airway intervention.
2. Demonstrate effective basic airway support techniques, including patient positioning and bag-valve-mask ventilation.
3. Apply evidence-informed pre-oxygenation strategies appropriate to patient physiology and clinical context.
4. Describe the indications, contraindications, and pharmacology of medications commonly used in airway management.
5. Demonstrate the use of supraglottic airway devices to achieve effective oxygenation and ventilation.
6. Perform endotracheal intubation using both direct and video laryngoscopy techniques.
7. Demonstrate the procedural steps and clinical decision-making required to perform cricothyroidotomy in emergency airway scenarios.
Upon completing Airway Mastery Core, you will receive a certificate of completion. For attending physicians, this activity has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 21 Mainpro+® Certified Activity credits (Session ID 302770-001).
